In the first issue of BIrd Ladies, we meet four badass women who supported the Migratory Bird Treaty over one hundred years ago. Their efforts to protect birds by introducing birdwatching as a pastime and persuading the public to stop wearing feathered garments is celebrated through a cut-and-paste patterned-filled punk aesthetic. Sales benefit the Audubon Birds of Prey Center in Eatonville, FL. If you’ve never been, go check it out. They rescue hawks, owls, eagles, etc. and educate the public about the ecological importance of birds of prey.
In Issue Two (2022), I invited friends & family to contribute pages about what birds mean to them. The result is a collaborative archive of our daily interactions with birds.
