Time/Space/Matter

This layered, mixed media dragon scroll book contemplates the relationship between the vast infinity of the universe and our finite human existence. Inspired by astronomer Sten F. Odenwald's work Patterns in the Void: Why Nothing is Important, the piece juxtaposes cosmic scale with personal experience.

The large, dark blue letterpress prints were created during my summer 2024 residency at Edition/Basel in Switzerland. Beneath these prints, smaller Risograph-printed text is concealed under various material layers. This hidden text draws parallels between scientific measurements of universal change and the personal metrics of how our bodies transform with age.

When suspended from the ceiling, the semi-transparent nature of the book reveals elements from both sides, changing with the viewer's perspective. This visual effect mirrors the book's conceptual foundation—highlighting the ephemeral quality of human existence against the backdrop of cosmic time and space.
